History
From February 2003, we at Iceland Express have helped make Iceland more accessible as a tourist destination by introducing fares up to 80% cheaper than the competition.
With Iceland often featured in the top 10 of the world’s must-visit destinations, there is a clear demand for our service. According to the Icelandic Tourism Board, tourism to Iceland has risen by over 150% since 2003, due in no small part to Iceland Express.
We have experienced strong support from Icelanders too, who now travel abroad 35% more than when we first took to the air.
Iceland Express’ strategy is similar to those of other low-fare airlines. There are no length-of-stay restrictions, no Sunday rule, and it’s easy to book or change bookings online. We only offer e-tickets and all flights are essentially one-way.
We've been growing steadily since 2003, and we now connect the Icelandic capital of Reykjavík to airports throughout Europe. We also have seasonal direct flights between Copenhagen and Akureyri in Northern Iceland, and Egilsstaðir in Eastern Iceland.
Iceland Express is efficiently operated by around 120 dedicated people based in Reykjavík, Keflavík, Copenhagen, London and Luxembourg. Numerous activities are outsourced.
