NEW AIRLINE ICELAND EXPRESS DELIVERS COST EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE TO COMPETITION

2003 heralds the launch of a new Icelandic airline. Iceland Express is the first low fare airline to hit the market, operating daily scheduled flights from Reykjavik to London Stansted and Copenhagen.

Tickets are already on sale via Iceland Express.com, with flights due to commence from the 27th Feb. The lowest prices are available online and start from just £108 inclusive of tax, however bookings can also be made direct through the Iceland Express UK sales office on 0870 8500 737 or through thousands of travel agents both in the UK and on the continent. Tickets are booked on a one-way basis, so that customers can benefit from the lowest fares possible.

Iceland Express is the first Icelandic scheduled airline to compete with Icelandair since 1992. Traditionally, competitors’ have targeted the summer months, including Go who served this market during the summer of 2000 and 2001, but has since stopped. Iceland Express’s unique cost cutting fares are available on a year round basis and there is no Sunday rule, so whether travel is aimed at business or pleasure, it’s never the price that affects your travel plans.

Johannes Georgsson, Managing Director and architect behind Iceland Express commented, “The market has been monopolised by the competition’s high pricing policy, which has made Iceland inaccessible to many. The country has even been percieved as being much farther away than it really is because of these steep prices. We want to give people the opportunity to experience travel when it’s right for them, at a price that will broaden the appeal of travel to Iceland.”

The business traveller is of key concern to Iceland Express, who want to provide a hassle free service to ensure that companies focus on issues that matter to them. Low prices are being offered on all flights, so even the highest fares are low in comparison with the competition, in some cases upto 80% cheaper and because of the Sunday rule, business travellers can come and go as they please.

Flights from London to Reykjavik take just under three hours, departing Reykjavik at midday and returning via London Stansted at 19:50. Iceland Express’s internet service is an invaluable tool to travellers, providing information and booking details for hotels, car rentals and other touring needs. In depth information on Iceland’s many tourist attractions is available to help plan ahead of the journey.
