IRON MAIDEN’S BRUCE DICKINSON & ‘THE EFFIGIES’ DEPART FOR ICELAND

On July 18th, the most extraordinary cricket tour ever will be leaving London Stansted, destination Iceland.

The ‘Effigies’, a twenty strong cricket team from London-based EFG private bank, will fly up north to face the might of Iceland’s national team. Not much of a challenge I hear you say! Yet the last English team to challenge the Icelander’s lost!

Before their departure, there will be a photo shoot with Bruce and ‘The Effigies’, who will be dressed in their whites, as they embark Iceland Express’s daily flight to Reykjavik. This will happen airside at London Stansted, where photo’s will be taken by In Press Photography and circulated to interested parties.

Sponsored by Iceland’s low fare carrier Iceland Express, the ‘Effigies’ will depart to reclaim the honour England left behind some twenty years ago, with Iron Maiden front man Bruce Dickinson leading the way, as pilot and legendary cricket commentator Henry Blofeld.

The tour, will arrive in the land of fire and ice in time for a midnight match. The next stop will see the ‘Effigies’ challenge the competition in the capital of cool itself, Reykjavik. Sunday takes the tour to the worlds most northern cricket ground in Stykkysholmur, before Monday’s Iceland Express glacier match.

Armed with a mobile cricket pitch from the ECC (England Cricket Council), the ‘Effigies’ will face their toughest “test” when they head up to the Langjökull glacier, two hours north of Reykjavik and only accessible by snowmobile, for the first cricket match on snow. Surrounded by one of the world’s most captivating landscapes, the team will do their best to orchestrate a game before descending the slopes for their return to the UK, hopefully with the cup in their possession.
